Technology & Teams
Facebook is a huge online organization that is brought up at the beginning of this week's web lecture. I am a member of Facebook as well as its competitor MySpace. Both of these web organizations have accomplished great success. These two online organizations have allowed me to keep in touch with people that I would never have kept in touch with after high school. It also keeps me connected with people I have met and helps me network. I would estimate that about 95% of people I know have a Facebook or MySpace page, if not both.
The web lecture also talks about how far we have come with technology for example how you can access the internet on your cell phone, and how some people these days can't go a day without their cell phone. This is so true! I have a Blackberry, and I can access the internet almost anywhere I go and it is so useful. If I need directions somewhere, or want to call a business I can use the Google website on my phone and find any of this information out, and of course I can also access my Facebook and MySpace accounts at any time of the day to keep me updated with information on what the people around me are doing. There have been times when I have lost my phone, and I seriously feel lost without it. It is a sad thing to admit but it is so true. I can't go a day without my Blackberry.

Hello there,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your blog post and agree with it completely. I think a large majority of us are very dependent on technology such as cell phones and the Internet. I like logging onto Facebook daily, and when I miss a day (which rarely happens), it's amazing how many new posts/pictures/status updates I have missed.
However, sometimes I feel that you can't keep anything a secret. You can control what you post online, but you can't control what pictures other people in your Facebook network post and tag of you for everyone to see. For example, sometimes there are bad or embarassing pictures of me that I would rather not have everyone see, so I won't upload them. But other friends or family members will have the same pictures if they took them from their camera as well and they can tag them. And there I am.
This is the downpart in my opinion - we do not have as much control as we think we do.
Hi Kimber,
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with your blog. I am a member of both facebook and myspace, and probably 95% of my friends are as well.
I love being able to just go online whenever I need to, do get work done (online class) or just to have time pass by (facebook, perez hilton). I definitely agree with you too Molly McMuffin, although we have control of what we put online...there is no way for us to control what others put on facebook. I have several unattractive pictures of me sleeping in the car on facebook, I have already untagged myself, but others can still find it.
The internet is very useful, but it can be a bit hard when there is content up, that you wish wasn't it will be difficult to pull down.
